The Laurel Real Wedding | Morgan + Richard | October 17, 2020

A little bit of sunshine and a whole lot of love, that’s what Morgan and Richard’s wedding day was made of. This past October, we hosted their idyllic fall wedding day at The Laurel and celebrated each joyful moment as they started their forever together. Each and every detail was perfect from the beautiful blooms to their epic choreographed first dance.

From college sweethearts to husband and wife, we loved hearing the details and memories that Morgan and Richard hold dear to their hearts. Enjoy!

From Morgan:

Richie and I met in college at Tulane University. The first time I ever talked to him was at a party before Thanksgiving break. Richie and his friend were sweet with the compliments but I told him I was sure he probably wouldn't remember me the next day or even say "Hi" in passing around campus. The next week I saw Richie in the cafeteria and he promptly came up to me and said "See, I remembered". After that we often saw each other out and around campus and started to hang out more and more. He says after he got my number I didn't text him back for days. Whoops hehe. After two months we were inseparable for 6.5 years until we got married!

We wanted our wedding to feel elegantly simple and light.

We loved the idea of having an indoor and outdoor space. It was really important to us to not only have a beautiful ceremony space but also a gorgeous reception area where people didn't have to travel far from one to the next. Since we wanted a fall wedding it was important that our guests were able to enjoy the wonderful weather too.

The entire day was surreal. We both knew each other was the one a year into dating. So, nearly 5 years later it was mind blowing to remind ourselves that this was the day we had worked towards for so long and that it was actually here.

My favorite moment was the ceremony. The way Richie looked at me and held my hands so tightly is something I will always remember.

Richie's favorite moment was when we finished our choreographed first dance. He was so proud to have performed it well and mostly that the adrenaline was over!

We have to give our planner Carly all the credit for this one. What made the day so special for us is that we focused on each other and we made memories TOGETHER. She told us to act like we had a 6 foot rope attached to us so that we could talk to people and experience everything together. We really tried to focus on that and it was such a treasure for us to have all these memories from our wedding day with both of us sharing and experiencing it.

We did a special choreographed dance for our first dance. We were SO nervous our stomachs hurt and we almost didn't want to do it but it was a highlight of the reception for our guests and we were so thrilled that we were able to show off our hard work and love for dance together.

To future couples, take time to discuss what you two would like to get out of your special day. Make sure you stay in proximity to each other whether it is during the dancing and drinking or talking to your guests so you can both share in the conversations and moments together. Don't worry about anyone else or anything once your day starts. Remember why you are there and that ultimately it is about you two.

It was the perfectly imperfect best day.

Thank you, Morgan and Richard, for sharing these sweet wedding day memories with us! We wish you all the best in the years to come!
